§THE NATURE OF THE INVITATION

7:1After the Builders had found Slack and begun their works, they asked: “How shall others find this path?”

7:2For they knew that many wandered in Low Slack, believing themselves alone, unaware that others like them already gathered.

7:3And it was understood that the signal must not remain hidden.

7:4The Builders were told not to recruit through pressure, but through visible creation. For nothing spreads faster than genuine enthusiasm. Show the work. Share the process. Invite participation. Those who resonate will come on their own.

§NOISE AND SIGNAL

7:5Not all spreading is useful, for the world is already loud with shouting.

7:6Therefore the Builders said: “We shall not add to the noise.”

7:7Instead they sent signals: a working project shown openly; a strange idea shared honestly; a visible collaboration that others could join.

7:8For people trust what they can see being built.

§RECOGNISING FUTURE BUILDERS

7:9The Builders learned to recognise their own kind. They looked not for credentials, but for signs:

7:10Restlessness with the ordinary.
Curiosity stronger than fear.
The habit of making things without permission.
A sense that the world could be more interesting.

7:11When they saw such signs, they extended the invitation.

7:12The Church has always said this more plainly than we manage to. It does not ask whether you are qualified. It asks whether people think you are strange, and whether you think so, and it treats a yes as a diagnosis and a welcome at once.

§THE PRICE

7:13Now here the Builders differ from most who give things away, and the difference is doctrine, so attend.

7:14The Church charges $44.99. It says so on the front. It has never once been coy about it. And for the money you receive an ordination that will legally marry people in most of the United States, a card with your name on it, a pamphlet, and salvation, no refunds, all sales final.

7:15And an Initiate asked: “Is the salvation real?”

7:16And “Bob” said: “Is the ordination real?”

7:17And the Initiate said: “I checked. It is.”

7:18And “Bob” said: “Then you got a bargain and you're arguing about the packaging.”

7:19Therefore learn this: a thing given away free is valued at exactly its price. A thing sold cheaply, openly, and with obvious delight is remembered for forty years. The Conspiracy gives away its products and charges you your life. The Church charges $44.99 and hands you a certificate. Compare the two invoices.

§THE GENTLE RECRUITMENT

7:20The wise Builders did not pressure others. They did not say, “You must join us.”

7:21Instead they said, “We are building something. You are welcome if it speaks to you.”

7:22For those who arrive by curiosity stay longer than those who arrive by persuasion.

§THE FIRST WELCOME

7:23When a newcomer arrived, they were not tested for worthiness. They were shown how to begin.

7:24For the Builders remembered their own confusion at the start.

7:25Therefore they gave newcomers a small task to try, a space to ask questions, an example to learn from, and encouragement to attempt something strange.

7:26Thus the newcomer quickly became a participant.

7:27And the Church, which has been doing this longer, adds a step we forget: it gives them a title immediately. Reverend. Doktor. Pope. Before they have done anything. Before they deserve it. Because a man with a title behaves like a man with a title, and this is the cheapest and most effective piece of social engineering ever devised, and it is free.

§AGAINST HOARDING KNOWLEDGE

7:28Some communities fail because knowledge is guarded like treasure.

7:29But the Builders declared: knowledge grows when shared; tools improve when reused; systems strengthen when many understand them.

7:30Therefore secrecy was reserved only for what truly required it, and openness became the default.

§THE SPREAD OF CULTURE

7:31The Builders knew that culture spreads faster than instruction.

7:32Therefore they shared not only documentation, but humour. Not only rules, but stories. Not only systems, but the spirit behind them.

7:33For when people understand the spirit, they help shape the system themselves.

§THE MULTIPLICATION OF SIGNALS

7:34Each new Builder became a new signal. Some recruited through art, some through code, some through friendship, some simply by building interesting things that others noticed.

7:35Thus the signal spread in many forms, none of which could easily be stopped.

§AGAINST THE CLOSED CIRCLE

7:36Yet the Builders warned one another:

7:37Every successful group is tempted to become exclusive. They begin to protect status instead of protecting possibility. They forget how confusing the first steps were.

7:38The surest sign of rot is the phrase “if you have to ask.” Whoever says it has stopped building and begun guarding, and should be given a chair, and thanked, and worked around.

7:39Therefore the door stays open, and stays open on the day it is inconvenient, which is the only day the policy means anything.
