I know this is going to be the SHITTIEST X-Day Nenslo evr had. My frapmeister had his car break down on wednesday and I ran out on tuesday. Which might explain why I am SAYING WHAT I REALLY THINK today instead of just being the lovable sweetie I usually am.

It's just that those filksongs are so stupid and embarrassing. I hate the idea of people looking at this newsgroup and saying "Man, those Bob fans are as stupid as the discordians!" I AM a subgenius by birth, and I shudder at some of the fleabrained antics some of these bobbies get up to, tarring ME with their brush. THEY don't care what the world thinks about the church of the subgenius - they don't HAVE to, BECAUSE THEY AREN'T SUBGENII. I kind of get the idea of what it is that black people don't care for about some honkie in blackface singing coon songs and making jokes about picaninnies and watermelon. At least Jolson didn't think he WAS a negro.

Even though I'm not there, I was kinda hoping someone would have the foresight to rent a remote control camera balloon and fit it with some strobe lights. Seen at a suitable distance it would make an impressive display.

So then, pray tell, just exactly what IS a SubGenius? You seem rather preoccupied with the perceptions of others. I was under the impression that SubG's couldn't care less what the normals thought of them. This concern you have with public image... surely it's not representative of the Church as a whole?

This is what happens when you DON'T HAVE FAITH. I prefer the "Hundredth Bonobo" theory of X-day - that it would only happen when an appropriate number of SubGenii were able to brainwash themselves into *really believing* it would happen. Of course, in that case it might only happen as mass hallucination, but that would be surely good enough.
